Protea Love

Such strength in this beauty. This is the way we should all be. I used different techniques around the leaves giving an impression and celebrating the protea.

View of a Farm. Clarens District.

Oil on canvas. I wanted to paint a landscape of the beautiful Clarens countryside. This scene gave me the opportunity to capture the colours and distance of a typical scene of the area.

Wilddog Trio

We were travelling on the S21, Kruger National Park, when we spotted 3 wilddogs heading down the road towards our car. They were quite intent of their surroundings, stopping to sniff the grass along the road. The next day we encountered lion on this road, which could explain why. This is 99x79cm, painted with acrylic on canvas, unframed.

King of the Road

It was a blazingly hot summers day when this man came to my gate asking for water to refill his bottle. Clean, well spoken, distraught because he had been roughly chased from the gate of a neighbour. He seemed so beaten, defeated by life and we started to talk - life had not been kind but he needed to know, feel, that it still counted for something. I asked if I could take a few photographs, unposed and casual. He agreed and, this painting, is the result. I have never seen him again and often wonder how he is faring especially during this time of Covid 19.
