Night Prowler : Leopard

I could not resist painting this beautiful animal from a photograph taken in the Kruger Park. The power in his muscles, the incredible focus on what he may have been stalking, the movement of his shoulder muscles, the long whiskers . . . .

Community Filling Station

The result of a challenge to paint from an image shared by another two artists. I felt no connection with the scene and struggled for days. At the eleventh hour, totally dissatisfied with what I had produced, I picked up a fresh canvas and "did it my way". I wanted to transform the rather sad image of reality into something more light and bright. Not to take away from the suffering but to bring out the resilience and ever hope filled essence of our poorer South Africans. Ref: 391
